Google AdWords Boss Joins Facebook

fb-logoAdwords chief of operations Grady Burnett is reported to be leaving Google to join Facebook.

Burnett has been running Google’s AdWords pay-per-click (PPC) advertising division since 2006. Later this month he moves from Michigan to join Facebook in Palo Alto where he’ll report to the company’s chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg. Burnett will take charge of Facebook’s online and inside sales where users run “self generated” ad campaigns. External ads from brands or advertising agencies will continue to be managed by Facebok’s Mike Murphy.

This is quite a coup for Facebook and suggests they’re getting serious about trying to beef up their revenue stream.

Mike Miller will take over Burnett’s role at Google.
