Cooltribe: Green Social Networking
Posted March 12th, 2009 | in General, Other Networks | No Comments »
Whilst the main social networks try to expand their reach as far as possible some are looking at more specialised niches. One of these is Cooltribe which describes itself as “the social networking site dedicated to connecting like minded people around the world who care for the environment, fight global warming and other ethical issues”.
As well the usual social features, cooltribe.com has environmental news, targeted discussions and daily action challenges. Cooltribe founder Hessia Fernandes says:
Our aim is not to compete with the facebooks but to create a vibrant community and keep the environmental topic at the forefront of the social agenda.”
Cooltribe stresses that it’s “not an accredited body, nor a charitable organisation” but “believes in the spirit of community and its power to make a difference”.
The site is free to join and use, there is currently no advertising but it will be allowed at a later stage.
