Three Year Old Buys Industrial Digger Online

Thisbulldozer isn’t strictly connected with social media but I can’t resist sharing it: a three year old in New Zealand bid $NZ 20,000 (about $US 12,500) for an industrial digger. And won.

theage.com.au reports that three year old Pipi Quinlan made the bid on NZ based auction site TradeMe. Apparently he got up early one morning, went online and made the bid for the Kobelco digger without anyone realising. The first his parents knew of it was when the bill arrived via email!

Fortunately TradeMe cancelled the sale and refunded the seller’s costs, so this case ended with nothing more than a funny story. But it could have been much worse and should make all of us think about our own PC security. If your – or someone else’s – toddler was left alone with the mouse for a few minutes, what havoc could he or she wreak?
