Yahoo 360 to Close in July
Posted May 31st, 2009 | in Lead Story, Other Networks | No Comments »
Yahoo announced 18 months ago that it planned to close its Yahoo 360° social networking site. That shutdown’s been delayed twice but we now have a definite date: Yahoo 360° will close on July 13 2009. By July 12 all existing users of 360 should transition to the new Yahoo Profiles.
For those with content on the existing blog content on 360 Yahoo says:
We also want to reiterate our commitment to preserving your blog content. We have been working to make sure we put the right mechanisms in place so that you can move your content and minimize disruption. It is with this thought in mind that we’re happy to introduce a new blogging feature that has already been integrated into your profile
Not everyone will be happy to see 360 go. Yahoo admits:
At this time, your new profile does not have all the features and functionality of your 360 profile. However, we are looking at incorporating new ways of expressing yourself through your profile.
For more information about the Yahoo 360 shutdown and the transition to Y!Profiles, see the official announcement.
