Twitter Users Catch the Zombie Bug

lesault-zombieWe’re used to hearing scare stories about “zombie PCs”. Now there seems to be a new threat: Twitter users are turning into zombies!

The picture here shows what happened to one recent victim, Twitterer @lesault, also known as Scotland’s premier mindreader. @Lesault suffered this grim fate after an encounter with fellow Twitterer @IndywoodFILMS.

Indywood films is Ad Lane who runs the Indywood Project. Lane is trying to raise £100,000 in finance to produce his zombie movie Invasion of the Not Quite Dead. As part of this fund-raising initiative he’s turned to Twitter where he’s already attracted almost 3,000 followers.

To raise money the project is selling zombie photo makeovers for just £10. Also available are pre-order packages which as well as the zombification include a copy of the final DVD and the possibility of being an extra in the movie!

Invasion of the Not Quite Dead seems to be attracting a decent buzz on Twitter. Even if you’re not interested in zombie movies it’s an interesting example of using viral fundraising via social media. Will the project reach it’s target? It’s too early to tell, but I’ve ordered my DVD and makeover…
