Twitter – It’s How You Tell ‘Em
Posted May 17th, 2009 | in Lead Story, Twitter | No Comments »
One of the weirdest and most interesting uses of Twitter yet takes place next month: the first ever Twitter Comedy Club.
This is an experimental event during which nine comedians will each perform a ten minute set via Twitter. With posts limited to 140 characters we can probably expect a large number of one-liners. The “audience” will be able to follow along by watching the hashtag #twitcom. Should they not appreciate the bonsai humour they can heckle the acts via the same hashtag.
The performers currently lined up for the event are:
- Mark Watson – @watsoncomedian
- Pappy’s Fun Club – @PappysFunClub
- Mitch Benn – @MitchBenn
- Matt Kirshen – @mattkirshen
- Rob Heeney – @robheeney
- Carl Donnelly – @carldonnelly
- Terry Saunders – @terrysaunders
- Gary Delaney – @garydelaney
- Tiernan Douieb – @TiernanDouieb
The Twitter Comedy Club takes place on June 8th 2009 at 20:00 BST (that’s 19:00 GMT). For more information follow @tweetcomedyclub or visit twittercomedy.co.uk.
